RGV ADULT & GERIATRIC MEDICINE SPECIALISTS

RGV Adult and Geriatric Medicine Specialists along with the Mercedes Children’s Clinic is composed of a dynamic group of physicians servicing the Mid-Valley area. With three clinics in Weslaco and a fourth clinic dedicated to pediatric care in Mercedes, we offer convenient healthcare to meet the needs of the community we serve.

DR. ULISES BONILLA

M.D.

Dr. Ulises Bonilla Burgos was born and raised in La Vega, Dominican Republic. He completed medical school at Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra in Santiago de los Caballeros, earning his degree in 2005.

After graduating he did his specialty in family medicine at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, affiliated with Icahn School of medicine of Mount Sinai in Bronx, New York. During his residency, Dr. Bonilla was designated with the prestigious honor of being Chief resident in his program.

He is a diplomate of the American Academy of Family physicians and joined RGV Adult and Geriatric Medicine in August 2016. Dr. Bonilla Burgos is married to his beloved wife, Leidy Laura Abreu, MD., and they are proud parents of their daughters, Alina and Laura.

RICARDO LERMA, JR.

PA-C

Ricardo Lerma, Jr. PA-C, is a graduate of Mercedes High School and is a first generation college student.

In 2005, Mr. Lerma graduated from the University of Texas–Pan American where he obtained a biology degree, and was later accepted into the clinical laboratories science program. After receiving his clinical laboratories science degree in 2006 and while working as a medical technologist at Valley Baptist Medical Center, he was accepted into the physician assistance program at the University of Texas–Pan American. He received his physician assistant degree in 2008 and a masters degree in physician assistant studies in 2009.

Mr. Lerma has been practicing family medicine since August 2008 and has been employed with RGV Adult & Geriatric Medicine since September 2016. Mr. Lerma continues to serve his home town community, Mercedes, Texas.

Belinda Aguilar, F.N.P.

Family Nurse Practitioner

Belinda Aguilar, advanced practice family nurse practitioner, has been employed with RGV Adult & Geriatric Medicine Specialists since 2017. She is a native of Weslaco, TX. She graduated from Weslaco High School and subsequently began her nursing career in 1997.

She has vast experience in home based care and nursing leadership/administration.

Additionally, she serves the Rio Grande Valley through her work in the Beta Sigma Phi Charitable Organization.

Mrs. Aguilar graduated with a Master’s of Nursing in 2017 from Chamberlain University, and joined our practice in 2017. She is the loving mother of two wonderful children, and she is happily married to her high school sweetheart.

Our team is composed of talented board certified physicians and specialists as well as licensed healthcare professionals who are committed to promoting good health and healthy lifestyles for our adult population as well as for the youngest members of our community.

Our practice acts as both advocates and coordinators of care with an emphasis on treating the whole patient. The practice is made up of Physicians, Physician Assistants (PA) and Nurse Practitioners (NP), Medical Assistants (MA) and office staff who provide high quality preventive care to our patients and treat their acute and chronic illnesses, as well as, assist with comprehensive palliative and end of life care.
